Name: Dayin Du [答應 杜]
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Han
Birthday: 15th day of the 4th month
Birth country: Ming empire
Background Details
As the daughter of a merchant Dayin has always been travelling to and fro. Rarely did she stay around in one place for long enough to make close friends, but she did make friendly meetings as she returns. Taught to be as business savvy as her parents are she grew up surrounded by the constant reminder of haggling. With a fine eye for quality, and a deep understanding of economics, Dayin rarely pays more than she needs to.
With the state of the world as it is now, and the nature of her parents' business Dayin isn't uncomfortable with dressing herself as a male. Though she rarely fools anyone, with her feminine mannerisms, and round features, she can at least keep up a lower profile in these times where wars are as common as the rising sun.
Not knowing any better than a world in constant chaos, and fighting over the relics, Dayin has never believed in the existence of gods, or superstition. She doesn't denounce it, but she has no reason to put her faith in prayer either. A critic with an eye out for all sorts of possibilities.
Character Details
Dayin is a negotiator, so to say. Taught to think in terms of business her parents often lament that the girl didn't grow up to be more graceful in character, like her figure and gait often is. Outspoken and sharp Dayin is acutely aware of her gender and position within the world, fighting it at every corner as she broadens her mind.
As a nomadic merchant Dayin has travelled far and encountered many cultures, giving her a fascination and interest in the world outside of her own home country. Along with a keen and studious mind she has had the luxury to study and observe these cultures, languages, and manners up close, thus allowing her to cultivate herself as a polyglot of sorts.
Witty and quick to act Dayin is never out of ideas. Creative as she is there is no problem that she hasn't been able to manoeuvre herself out of, be it through speech, or through act, or by manipulation. Tricks she doesn't find dirty to use, seeing the state the world is in. The problem, however, comes when she goes too far, spiralling down into a downwards spiral in which she can find no way out of. At least Dayin is also good at keeping track of all of her lines and thus also her myriad of lies.
