THE SKY

City of dreams; the place of the rich.

THE TUBE

To enter The Sky one must take one of the elevators of The Tube to go to the upper layer. From there the first location they access is the Centre, a circular paved island where the townhouse of Golden City can be found. All official administration is taken care of in the townhouse such as citizen registration, filing complaints or to apply for special licenses, etc… The Centre is also the place where the courthouses are located and where The Council hold their meetings and make their appearances.

Much like The Centre of The Land The Centre of The Sky also acts as the centre point of The Sky layer, though the roads of The Sky aren’t designed to be as complicated as that of The Land. Following the bridges that surround the island there is a place to visit for visitors and citizens alike, be it for entertainment, official business, or to simply take a walk in clean air. A map of The Sky layer along with a compass pattern on the pavement helps the lost to find their direction once more.

THE CENTRE

Upon exiting the Tube the first impression and step taken into The Sky is The Centre. It hovers above The Centre of The Land. All official business --such as citizen registration, complaints, court announcements-- take place at the Centre of The Sky. Unlike the chaos of the Centre in The Land, the Centre in The Sky is much more formal and strict. Citizens aren't allowed to waltz into the place without an official appointment.

THE GREENHOUSES

With a lack of fertile grounds on The Land and in combination with the clean air in The Sky numerous projects have been set up to expand the city resources. One such project are the greenhouses of The Sky, which are small islands of glass globes that house the common to the exotic plants together. Each greenhouse has an unique ecosystem to replicate different environments after which they are named, and to support the needs of the plants it is housing. The greenhouses of The Sky are subjected to strict regulations to make sure that nothing disturbs the research, with strict opening hours for the public.

THE MAZE GARDEN

Another popular attraction in The Sky is The Maze Garden, which isn’t as intimidating as it sounds. It is the local park, with sturdy knee high hedges that line around patches of grass on which visitors can enjoy a picnic, or a relaxing day out in the fresh air and surrounded by greenery. Visitors that don’t have a permanent residence in The Sky have strict curfews however, a policy that The Sky residents urged upon to curb crimes and shady dealings.

THE PIONEERS COTTAGE

While the original is a decayed and uninhabitable place in The Land, a replica can be found in The Sky. It is the Pioneer’s Cottage, the first living quarters of the Pioneer as it was before The Sky came to exist. It is there to honour the enigma that is the Pioneer, and to retell the story of Golden City's origin days. Most of the citizens of Golden City have visited the museum at least once in their lifetime, as it is part of the mandatory curriculum of their education system. A free ticket is given to every newly arrived citizen that settles down.

MCALLISTER MEMORIAL

Where once the house of the great family of McAllister --that helped Golden City flourish-- stood now stands a grand statue contrasting the other great mansions of the founding families. After the great fire that wiped out one of the founding families the burnt remains were replaced with the bronze statue of what once was a subliminally happy family. A handsome man in a three-piece suit, a monocle and a bright smile represents the former head of the family. Seated on the ground was his wife, a warm lady that every child would dream of to have as their governess, and a cute little girl her hair done in two pigtails, seemingly delighted. The empty seat next to the family represents the void that the McAllisters left after their tragedy, both in the heart of the city as in the Council.

THE ODEUM

Though many can’t afford it The Odeum is the place to be for some high class amusement. It is the stage of the most famous in the city and beyond. The Odeum serves multiple purposes. Its entry and halls can serve as a gallery, while the grand (but also the smaller) stage can be employed for all sorts of events. Plays, dances, musical performances, you name it and it can be found in The Odeum. There is even a big screen on which motion pictures can be enjoyed. Everything is, of course, accessible with the right coin and name.

THE RESIDENTIAL AREA

The residential area of The Sky is what everyone imagines the houses of the rich to look like and more. The houses are large and exist out of multiple floors for the use of one family and usually have a small patch of grass. It is the epitome of class and wealth to be able to afford a living space in The Sky.
