21 years old, female. Born on: October 19. Faceclaim: Baek Jin-hee
Occupation: University student (physiotherapy) & Part time waitress, bakery assistant, delivery girl, and a bunch of other odd jobs. As of recent she also interns at the local hospital for her degree.
Personality: Despite her large, round eyes and general cute appearance Hye-jin is far from sweet and demure. Growing up in the rural farmlands with three older brothers does something to a girl. Boyish and wild the female is far from elegant and gentle, often seeming to forget her own gender and unafraid to take on anyone physically or mentally. Her parents often lament it, after three sons they were happy to finally have a girl, but to have their only daughter turn out the way Hye-jin did? She eats like a savage, following the classic see-food diet and putting on lipstick is probably the only makeup rite she knows. To top it off she has a temper, often accelerated when people try to stereotype her for her gender, or try to tell her that she can't do something. Hye-jin is stubborn and demands her independence for which she will fight for figuratively and literally.
The only redeeming qualities Hye-jin has is her absolute willingness to help anyone and everyone with anything and her hard working character. Unwilling to stand still and do nothing when she knows someone is in need of help. However, even that could turn against her as Hye-jin's consciousness of her own limitations is in the negatives. Don't expect Hye-jin to accept any sort of help for herself, however. The female has a pride larger than her temper and a conviction that she will be able to overcome and solve all problems through her own earnestness and hard work. To accept help would mean that she admits that there are things even she can't overcome, which is round-about ridiculous to Hye-jin. After all, she has yet to encounter that what she hasn't conquered yet.
Biography: In the modern times the drain from the rural areas is great. Whole families setting out to find a better future and income in the cities, leaving behind only the elderly and the young. The Jo family was one of the few that remained steadily in the farmlands, her father being the only son of the family and thus needed to tend to the family treasures. It left Hye-jin with few peers, especially girls as they all moved with their parents. Along with being the youngest child and the only daughter of the house left Hye-jin with only her three brothers as her examples. Three mischievous, slightly barbaric brothers causing the youngest daughter to turn just as troublesome and wild.
Though her family didn't have much Hye-jin never considered herself to be poor or lacking in anything. Satisfied with her life the girl loved the fields and the water surrounding her. Playing hide and seek in the mountains, wrestling in mud, she did it all, to the great lamentation of her mother who had hoped that her daughter could be at least a teensy bit more graceful and would invest herself in girly hobbies instead of trying to overpower her brothers.
It was this hopelessness and desperation, along with the fact that the siblings needed a proper education, that they were sent away to their aunts in the city when they reached the age for middle school. For Hye-jin her parents had chosen an aunt who happened to have three daughters, hoping that the influence would help her.
The experience helped somewhat, in appearance as they transformed Hye-jin and her natural good looks into something that resembled the daughter her mother had hoped for. However, hating how makeup felt on her skin and a deep dislike for shopping the girl satisfied everyone by declaring that she could take the clothes her cousins didn't want and at least keep the cleansing routine for her face. It also helped her saving money, which would help her a long way as she started university.
Refusing to take the help or monetary support from anyone Hye-jin was quick to move into her college dorms, proud that she was able to pay for it herself. Fate seemed to be afraid that Hye-jin was growing too confident, however as it struck a tragedy on the Jo family; her father had fallen ill and needed to be hospitalised.
The sudden development forced her oldest brother to return to the farmlands that they had been sent away from and spiralled the family into debt. To top it off, her second brother’s business had failed, leaving him and his family in debt as well with her third brother being unable to get his career off the ground. Determined to help, despite being the youngest and despite the constant reassurances that it was fine, Hye-jin decided to chip in by taking on more part-time jobs. She had never been one to hang out with classmates anyway...
